I love hearing people's flying squirrel stories, because they're usually along the same lines as yours!Alyssa Johnsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05944057074589003472noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8626677859355568962.post-61597072992266544682013-02-04T14:03:14.010-05:002013-02-04T14:03:14.010-05:00Well, keep in mind what time of year it is! They don't hibernate, but they do cache food and will aggregate to conserve energy. I've heard stories of biologists checking wood duck boxes and finding upwards of 20 squirrels in it! I haven't seen "my" flyers on the feeders since probably early November, even though we've had birdseed out consistently. Somewhere (probably my roof) they're nestled in with a pile of black oil sunflower seeds. For whatever reason that I do not know I poked a practice arrow into the hole and to my surprise a flying squirrel popped out and pretty much scared the !@#$ out of me. I watched it for the longest time before it decided I was not a threat and went back into it's hole.<br />Good luck with your course and project and very much look forward to hearing your progress.Born in the wrong Centuryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06121526582511972264noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8626677859355568962.post-48340274138708575382013-02-04T09:26:01.673-05:002013-02-04T09:26:01.673-05:00That's nuts! A few by a pile of nuts, some by sunflower seeds, 2 by bird feeders, and one faced up a tree by a hole. I'll get 'em.
