Flying squirrel...kind of

I wish I had something more exciting to write about today, but I just can’t pull anything out! I am just over the hump of finals week. I still have a paper to finish and a rather daunting vocabulary final in my Wetland Dilineation class on Friday afternoon.

I’ll just briefly set this picture up, and then be on my way. If you have been a reader since I started posting, you probably read my brook trout entries. Well, I used the first 2 to bait my camera…and that backfired.

And then I had the third fish waiting to be used, hanging in a plastic shopping bag off my deck. It went forgotten for weeks, and would still be forgotten if it had stayed consistently cold. But, that brief warm up a few weeks ago allowed that fish to ferment…and get horribly rancid, which reminded me of it’s presence in that bag. So, I decided to take it up the hill and dump it in front of my camera again, this time in a different spot. After a week of having the camera out, I got only 3 pictures. One is below (funny, but not that exciting). One was an up close and personal picture of an unknown critter’s face at 3am, which knocked the camera off the log it was sitting on. And the third was a picture of my boots as I walked up to retrieve the camera.

A "flying squirrel"...or a common gray squirrel.

So, I was thieved again and the rotten fish was made off with with no picture to ID the thief!
